OUR APPROACH to governance

THE LIGHTHOUSE LEARNING TRUST IS STRONGLY COMMITTED TO ACHIEVING EXCELLENCE IN ITS GOVERNANCE AND OUR TRUSTEES HAVE MADE THIS AN EXPLICIT OBJECTIVE AND RESPONSIBILITY OF THE TRUST BOARD.

As a Multi Academy Trust, we have a wide and varied range of important stakeholders. These include our learners and their families, the local communities served by each of our schools and colleges, our employees, our funders, and of course the taxpayer. We owe it to all of these groups to be transparent in the way that we behave and how we take decisions with their interests in mind. Above all else, Trustees at Lighthouse Learning Trust understand that the Trust Board must at all times be genuinely accountable to the Trust’s stakeholders. Our governance structure has been designed for this purpose.

Our approach to governance is also guided by the Trust’s founding principles. As such, our decision-making strives to be inclusive, evidence-based, self-critical, accountable, and without arrogance.

We take care to ensure that we work as a team to ensure that proposals and reports received from the Executive are given the respect of well-rounded and comprehensive scrutiny, support, and challenge. We believe that this approach produces the best decisions.
